Library (LRC)
Welcome to our Library Resource Centre (L.R.C.)
"So Please, oh PLEASE, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away,
And in it's place you can install,
A lovely bookshelf on the wall".

The Greythorn Primary School L.R.C. provides materials to promote the love of reading and to support the curriculum and Victorian Essential Learning Standards (V.E.L.S.)
We aim to enthuse students to read for pleasure and relaxation as well as for research purposes. Hence, the development of sound research skills using print and non-print material is a crucial part of the library program.
The L.R.C. has a comprehensive selection of fiction, non-fiction, picture story books, audio-visual materials including CD ROMs, DVD’s, videos, audio books and teacher reference material.
Each grade has a weekly 50 minute lesson where they are taught to develop library and research skills, explore and promote literature and to exchange books.
Open Hours
In addition to the timetabled lesson, the L.R.C. is also open on Monday to Thursday at lunch time and after school until 3.45pm.Parents are very welcome to accompany their children to the library before and after school.
Literary Appreciation and Understanding
Over the course of the year the students will:Develop an understanding of and appreciation for literature through exposure to various types of literature and introductions to many different authors and illustrators.
Expand their curiosities and understandings about the world through exposure to a variety of nonfiction materials.
Listen attentively to stories.
Information Literacy
Furthermore the students will develop the skills needed to:Access and use resources in print, pictorial and electronic formats
Understand and use effective and efficient research strategies
Select, interpret, evaluate and use information from all sources and media
Students are encouraged to become independent, responsible users of the resources. They are expected to take care of the L.R.C. which is a personal and shared resource belonging to the whole school community.
Hand in hand we come
Christopher Robin and I
To lay this book in your lap.
Say you're surprised?
Say you like it?
Say it's just what you wanted?
Because it's yours---
Because we love you.
