ART1art2

Greythorn has a well stocked and spacious Art Room that is staffed by a full time specialist Visual Art teacher. Every class comes to the art room every week for a specialist Visual Art lesson. The seven main areas of the Visual Art program are: painting, drawing, clay modelling, print making, threads and textiles, construction and collage. These areas expose children to a wide range of techniques and materials while creating both 2D and 3D works of art. Students are encouraged to explore the elements of art and to think, plan and research different ideas in order to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of the world around them.

The Visual Art program is a skills based program, in Prep, students are exposed to as many skills as possible and future years programs extend these skills. The program is planned to complement what is being studied in integrated studies at each year level. For example, Year 2 may create various art works based on the theme of transport for a term or Year 6 may work on print making skills for a term.

Every student wears a smock to protect their school uniform. Safety rules are taught where appropriate and students are expected to share resources and materials with their classmates.
